Available as either a sedan or four-door cabriolet, the 1956 Mercedes Benz 300C (and its other year models) was the third generation of the Mercedes Type 300 and was introduced in 1955 after very successful introductory and 300B models. Visually the 1956 300C was nearly identical to the 300B, however, it offered an expanded rear window and the first ever option for an automatic transmission. Interestingly, production was stopped in June 1956 when Mercedes Benz announced it was cancelling the Type 300 line. Due to high dealer demand and outcry, the line was reinstated. Many automotive insiders and classic car enthusiasts will tell you that during the last few years of its decade long run, the Type 300 was mostly an indulgence for the firm.
Due to the short production run and the brief stop in production, the 1956 Mercedes Benz 300C is one of the more rare year models to find today. Rest assured knowing that the California classic car dealership professionals at The Beverly Hills Car Club can assist you in finding these rare autos of all years and models. Perhaps the most widely sought after, there were 48 units of the sedan convertibles released in 1956. The next most exclusive would be the 300D convertible models, which were produced from July 1958 to February 1962, and featured only 65 units throughout their production. No matter what you're looking for, the team at The Beverly Hills Car Club invites you to browse their online inventory of cars and encourages you to contact them with any questions you may have.
