The AC Aceca Bristol was the second generation of the Aceca cars and was produced from 1956 to 1961. The Bristol name came from the new Bristol engine that replaced the AC units fitted on the early models. The AC Aceca Bristol had a 2-liter, 6-cylinder engine with 3 downdraught carburetors and a smooth four-speed manual gearbox with overdrive. Based on the same simple tubular chassis than its predecessor, the Aceca was very light, using fiberglass and aluminum for the construction. Other options included front disc brakes that became standard later on. With all-around independent suspension and great handling, the Aceca was really nice to drive. Altogether, the AC Aceca was a sophisticated and comfortable grand tourer, with a luxurious and refined interior. One design cue was the hatch trunk, rarely seen on sports cars of the era.
