The Aston Martin DB5, launched in 1963 and produced through 1965, would be the considered graceful evolution of the DB4 Series V Vantage edition, and would look nearly identical. The main difference, however, between the 1963 Aston Martin DB5 and the DB4 Series V Vantage would be the adoption of a 4.0L engine and the option of a five-speed gearbox. In total, it is estimated that approximately 1,059 examples of the DB5 were made throughout production, and the DB5 would be offered in both fastback Coupe form and Convertible form. Also available was the Vantage engine upgrade, which equipped the car with triple Weber carburetors and gave buyers 314hp. Only 65 examples were believed to be produced with the Vantage engine. As such, they are quite rare and exceedingly sought-after. There were also many detail improvements to the 1963 Aston Martin DB5, including the fitting of an alternator, tinted glass, four exhaust silencers, and power windows. Of course all of these extras added to weight, making the DB5 heavier than the DB4 models. Nevertheless, today’s collectors and enthusiasts love the Aston Martin DB5 for its incredible styling, power and appeal.
