Introduced in 1964, the Sunbeam Tiger was a high-performance sports car partly designed by Carroll Shelby and produced until 1967. The body of the Tiger was slick and refined, with a 2-door roadster design. Powered by the same 4-cylinder V8 engine used in the AC Cobra, the 1964 Sunbeam Tiger had a capacity of 4.3 liters, a power output of 164 hp and could reach 60 mph from still in 9.5 seconds. Ford provided the live-rear-axle and four-speed gearbox, while the chassis was the one from the Sunbeam Alpine, modified by Shelby with a stiffer suspension and a new rack and pinion steering. Brakes were discs in the front and drums in the rear. The result was a comfortable automobile with good handling and roadholding.
