Produced from 1962 to 1973, the Lotus Elan was a small British sports car that was known for its remarkable handling capabilities. This communicative and well-designed roadster gave a lot of satisfaction to its driver thanks to its light body and solid performance. Designed by Colin Chapman, the model was built with a backbone frame and a fiberglass body to reduce the weight, and was powered by a Ford 1.6-liter, four-cylinder engine. The unit provided 105 hp and enabled the Elan to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 7 seconds. From 1964, the second generation of Lotus Elan was in production, featuring a full-width dashboard made of wood with a closable glove box. The main design cues of the new model were the oval taillights, optional knock-off wheels and the battery in the trunk.
