Selling or Buying a 1967 Maserati Quattroporte I?

1967 Maserati Quattroporte I In 1963, Maserati launched their first model of Quattroporte, which was groundbreaking as the first performance GT sedan; capable of achieving a top speed over 125 mph. The 4.2-liter V8 featured Weber carburetors and its racing DNA made it a very reliable unit, with a wonderful sound and a satisfying output of 260 hp. Early models featured twin rectangular headlamps, later replaced by four round units, which gave the front end a beautiful harmony, with the wide grille and large trident logo. Pietro Frua designed the body of the Quattroporte I, cleverly mixing curvy lines and angular shapes, resulting in a classic and elegant sedan – very in line with the brand’s image.

1967 Maserati Quattroporte I Buyer’s Guide

If you are thinking about buying a 1967 Maserati Quattroporte I, it is important to know the strengths and weaknesses of the model. You might already know that the De Dion rear suspension was known for causing some trouble on a few models. Therefore, this is an aspect of the car you need to check thoroughly when looking at a particular unit. The engine is said to be reliable, but it is recommended to have a classic Maserati expert inspect all mechanics to make sure the car is sound, and also that the parts have matching numbers. It is important to know how the vehicle has been looked after, whether it is coming from a private seller or a trader. Many owners do tend to take care of their classic but a pre-purchase inspection will give you extra valuable information on the model. Make sure the car comes with all the extras too, such as the spare tire, tool kit, or owner’s manual if available.
