Produced from 1967 to 1973, the Maserati Ghibli I was a popular grand tourer, combining gorgeous body style and thrilling performance. The 4.7-liter V8 engine wasn’t as powerful as Ferrari and Lamborghini’s V12s, but behind the wheels, the Ghibli had nothing to envy of its competitors. A convertible model was made available in 1969, as well as a Ghibli SS version with a 4.9-liter unit. With an output of 335 hp and a top speed of 175 mph, the Maserati Ghibli I SS was the fastest production Maserati at the time. Minor changes were made to the Ghibli I in 1970, including a redesign of the dashboard, new headrests and revised headlamps. Options were made available with later models, such as a three-speed automatic transmission to replace the serial five-speed ZF.
