Buying a 1973 Aston Martin V8

1973 Aston Martin V8In 1973, the production of the 6-cylinder DBS stopped and the Aston Martin V8 became the mainstream car for the company. It remained so for almost two decades until the Virage replaced it in 1989. The talented Tadek Marek designed the V8 engine, with a capacity of 5.3 Liters and Bosch mechanical fuel injection. The horsepower was estimated to 320 and the car was capable of doing 0 to 60 mph in 5.9 seconds, with a top speed of 160 mph. These figures made the Aston Martin V8 the fastest 4-seat grand touring car on the market in the early 70’s. Although based on the same chassis and body style than the DBS, the 15’’ GKN light alloy wheels and the larger front air intake can identify the design of the new V8.
