Lamborghini produced the Jalpa between 1982 and 1988, under Chrysler’s ownership. The Jalpa was a two-seat, targa-style coupe, offered simultaneously with the Countach model and the LM002 supertruck. The Jalpa was Lamborghini’s highest-selling V8, although it was made in only 419 units. Powered by a 3.5-liter V8, the Lamborghini Jalpa could produce an output of 255 hp at 7,000 rpm and reach a top speed of 155 mph. 0 to 60 mph were achieved in 7.3 seconds, which was satisfying, although not as impressive as the contemporary Countach. This third generation of small Lamborghinis was well designed, with conveniently placed instruments and sturdier engine components. Thanks to quality engineering and its chain-driven timing systemrather than belts, the Jalpa also held its combustion and timing specs better than larger models.
