Produced from 1981 to 1988, the Jalpa was the replacement for the Silhouette model. Most popular V8 created by Lamborghini, the Jalpa was built in 416 units, partly thanks to its certification for the American market. Designed by Bertone, the Jalpa was a two-seat targa-style coupe with elegant and refined lines. A few design updates were made in 1984, including the black plastic body parts being replaced by body color parts and new circular taillights. The 3.5-liter V8 engine was capable of 255 hp for a top speed of 155 mph, 60 mph being reached from still in 7.3 seconds. The model was quite enjoyable thanks to its increased drivability compared to contemporary V12 models. The Jalpa also offered more comfort with adjustable backrests and a more modern interior.
