The Alfa Romeo 2000 Berlina was the first body style to debut in the new Alfa Romeo 2000 lineup in 1958, and was designed and built by the factory. The 2000 Spider would quickly follow it, with bodywork by Carrozzeria Touring, and later the 2000 Sprint, designed by Bertone, would complete the range at the end of 1960. The Alfa Romeo 2000 Berlina used the twin-cam four-cylinder engine from the Alfa Romeo 1900, but was tuned to produce more than 105hp, while the Sprint and Spider versions put out 115hp via twin Solex carburetors. The Berlina would also have a similar suspension setup to the 1900, but moved to a longer wheelbase and wider track. In total, it is estimated that approximately 2,814 Alfa Romeo 2000 Berlina models were produced between 1958 and 1962 when the 2000 was replaced by the Alfa Romeo 2600.
