The Lotus Eclat was a front-engine, rear drive coupe produced from 1974 to 1982. Based on the previous Lotus Elite model, the Eclat had a fastback body style, offering more storage in the trunk. The first series available from 1974 to 1980 was powered by a 2.0-liter, 160-hp Lotus 907 Slant Four engine, while the series 21980 to 1982boasted a 2.2-liter Lotus 912 engine with improved torque. The Eclat featured disc brakes in the front, inboard drum brakes in the rear, and air conditioning and power steering on option. A lift out roof panel option was offered in the final model year. The Lotus Eclat was praised for its fantastic handling and grip. The Eclat was in between the sporty Esprit and the polyvalent Elite in the range of models and the two other models sold in more models.
