About Kellner
Founded by George Kellner in 1861 in Paris, was a well-known coachbuilder that initially began by creating custom bodies for horse carriages. By the late 1890s, the focus of Kellner had shifted to automobiles and the company created its first, custom model in 1903. Following the passing of the founder, the sons continued business under the name Carrosserie Kellner Frres and found substantial work with Renault, Hispano-Suiza, and the Bugatti T41 Royale. Soon thereafter, Kellner became a preferred supplier for Rolls-Royce and erected nearly 90 bodies prior to the initiation of World War I. Before its closure due in large part to World War II the company designed what is now recognized as the ’torpedo’ body style.
