Announced in the Autocar in May 1919, the Bentley 3 Litre was the first vehicle produced by the British manufacturer. Named after its 3-liter engine, the standard model delivered circa 70 hp, for a top speed of 80 mph. The engine featured many technical innovations, including pent-roof combustion chambers, twin carburetors and two spark plugs per cylinderrare for the era. The Bentley 3 Litre entered production in 1921 and was delivered as a rolling chassis to coachbuilders of choice. Most cars went to Vanden Plas and were dressed with four-seat touring bodies. The standard model used a blue background on the radiator emblem and was known as the Blue Label. The car was available in a short or long chassisthe latter only from 1923.
