The first Bentley car was introduced in 1919 and three prototypes were made before the model entered production. Its chassis could be purchased from 1921 to 1929 and send to the customer’s coachbuilder of choice. Most of the designs were tourers and Vanden Plas was the referred coachbuilder. The engine was a 3.0-liter, straight-4 unit with 4 valves per cylinder and an overhead camshaft, linked to a four-speed gearbox. Power output was around 70 hp and top speed was recorded at 80 mph. From 1924, a Speed model and a Super Sports model were also offered, with top speeds of 90 mph and 100 mph respectively. The colors commonly used on the radiator badge were used to identify the different models. The Red Label model was the short-chassis model and is one of the most prized models made by W.O. Bentley
