The Bentley 3 Litre was produced from 1921 to 1929 and was the first model made by the British manufacturer. A prototype was first introduced in 1919 in the Autocar but it took some time to have the engine fitted. The 3-liter, straight-four unit boasted advanced features such as pent-roof combustion chambers, two spark plugs per cylinder and twin carburetors. The standard model delivered 70 hp and reached a top speed of 80 mph, while the Speed and Super Sports models boosted the top speed to 90 and 100 mph respectively. Linked to a smooth four-speed gearbox, the Bentley 3 Litre was a very enjoyable vehicle, both efficient and comfortable for long-distance trips. Available in a short or long chassis version, the body was designed by various coachbuildersmost cars being tourers.
