First introduced in 1919 in the Autocar, the Bentley 3 Litre was the first prototype made by the brand and was powered by a 3-liter engine, like its name suggests. The engine was technologically advanced, featuring 4 valves and two spark plugs per cylinder, as well as twin carburetors. The standard model delivered 70 hp and could reach a top speed of 80 mph. The Speed model would average 90 mph and the Super Sports could exceed 100 mph. Linked to a four-speed gearbox, the Bentley 3 Litre was smooth and with its comfortable and luxurious interior, it was a good vehicle for long-distance trips. The model was built from 1921 to 1929 and was delivered to coachbuilders of choice upon request. Bentley referred its customers to Vanden Plas and most of the bodies were in the tourer style.
