Launched in 1926, the Bentley 6.5 Litre was the successor to the 4.5 Litre model and the third car made by Bentley. The model was produced until 1930, and then replaced by the Bentley 8 Litre. In 1928, two variants were offered: the regular 6.5 Litre and the Bentley Speed Six. The Speed Six was introduced in 1928 and became the most successful racing model made by the British manufacturer. The models came as rolling chassis in a range of wheelbase lengths from 132 to 152.5 in, and were sent by the clients to their coachbuilders of choice. The engine was a straight-four, 6.6-liter unit with overhead camshaft, four valves per cylinder and a 147-hp output. A new clutch was fitted, with a dry-plate design that included a clutch brake for fast gear changes.
