Buying a 1965 Alfa Romeo 2600 Spider

1965 Alfa Romeo 2600 SpiderBodied by the world-renowned Italian coachbuilder, Touring, which was known for creating some of the most pristine early Ferrari designs, the Alfa Romeo 2600 Spider was introduced in late 1962. Although similar to the Alfa Romeo 2000 series in design, it would offer a different grille, hood, windshield and body trim. Most noticeable to owners, however, was the increase in horsepower and performance from the new, larger engine. The 1965 Alfa Romeo 2600 Spider is an excellent example of these beautiful classics. Inside the classic Alfa Romeo 2600 Spider’s cockpit, for example, is a beautiful instrument cluster, designed in the classic Italian tradition with large, round gauges resting behind a stylish and elegant steering wheel. Lighter than the Sprint Coupe edition, the Alfa Romeo 2600 Spider offered quicker steering and a bit better acceleration. It was also considered a 2+2 mode, with occasional rear seating. Between their introduction in 1962 and the end of production in 1965, approximately 2,255 Spider models were manufactured, most of which were imported to the United States.
