The Jaguar Mark IV is a designation used for the cars built by the brand between 1935 and 1949. The company was previously names SS Cars, which was problematic because of the association with the German Nazi political party. Three models were available: a 1.5-liter, a 2.5 and a 3.5-liter. The cars were built on a separate chassis frame with suspension using semi-elliptic leaf springs on rigid axle all around. Construction switched from traditional steel and wood method to all steel in 1938. With the 2.5-liter engine, the car reached a power output of 105 hp. The chassis was longer but the space was used for the six-cylinders and the passenger room remained the same. The 3.5-liter was introduced in 1938 with the same body and chassis than the 2.5-liter and an increase of 125 hp.
