The 1960’s-era Mercedes-Benz SL cars were sporty touring cars rather than out-and-out sports cars, and were widely popular because of it. Introduced at the Geneva auto show in March 1963, the Mercedes 230SL was a ground-up project. An up-to-date sports touring car with 190 size and performance but more luxury, the 230 SL was produced from 1963 to 1971. All models boast an inline six-cylinder engine with multi-port fuel injection using a mechanical pump system adapted from the diesel motors. In addition, all were rear-wheel drive, bur are also equipped with independent rear suspension – a feature that greatly improved road handling. Popular among both European car enthusiasts and avid Mercedes collectors, the Mercedes Benz 230 SL makes a fantastic addition to your classic car collection.
