The Rolls Royce 25/30 was a further elaboration on the Twenty and 20/25 built in the tense climate preceding WWII and the re-purposing of the Rolls Royce factories to aid the war effort. Reaching speeds of 75 to 80 mph with the correct body, the 25/30 was fitted with a 4.3 liter OHV engine in another attempt by Rolls Royce to pack more power into a small frame. Thus the 25/30 is something of a little demon with most configurations displaying smooth lines and a deceptive yet poised aesthetic that seems to actually improve with age. Its easily something you could see in the backdrop of a Noir detective film with nostalgia that just pulls you in like it could take you to another world.
Sadly, being the penultimate design Rolls Royce would release before the firestorm of World War 2, further exploration of this winning formula would be forced to wait until well after the Wraith was released in 1938 and a shadow began to fall over Europe.
Looking to purchase a classic Rolls Royce?
First thing when buying a Rolls Royce 25/30 youll want to check every inch of it and verify whether or not it has matching VINs (vehicle identification numbers), also checking for rust and other potential wear. Any defects overlooked might adversely affect the enduring value of the car, as well as substandard, unoriginal parts. It is absolutely vital that you do your research to the tee or else risk owning a car worth significantly less than you paid for it. Youll want to make sure youre looking at a 25/30 rather than 20/25 as only about 1,000 25/30 chassis were produced, making 25/30s about 4 times more rare and therefore more valuable. A steady hand and a discerning eye are a must when dealing with cars of this age.
