Buying or Selling a Rolls Royce Silver Spur II

Rolls Royce Silver Spur IIIn 1989, the Rolls Royce Silver Spur burst onto the scene bearing news of further developments for the rousing design started by the original silver shadow. The emphasis on comfort was still prominent with revolutionary ideas implemented like Automatic Ride Control, a new mechanism that automatically adjusted the dampeners on all four wheels as needed for the smoothest possible ride. On top of previous innovations like self-levelling suspension and the Girling automatic ride height control system, Rolls Royce was really making strides for ride quality. Another development was the adoption of an anti-locking brake system to ensure driver safety by improving traction and keeping the vehicle under control in tight situations.

Some work was done on the interior too with a significantly smaller steering wheel and an updated dashboard, and in the interest of further comfort its 212 inch wheelbase granted that little bit of extra room need to stretch out your legs. Carrying on with its resplendent legacy, the Silver Spur II bore a 6.75 V8 engine and initially the old three-speed Hydramatic transmission, but that would be exchanged for the four-speed GM 4L80E in late 1991 along with the addition of a larger gas tank.

Rolls Royce Silver Spur II Buyers Guide

There are two variants of the Rolls Royce Silver Spur II that a prospective buyer should be privy to: the Mulliner Spur and the Touring Limousine. Near the end of its time building bodies under Rolls Royce, Mulliner Park Ward did a bit of work on the Silver Spur II. The Mulliner variant can be recognized by the name printed on the hubcaps and license plates. The factory built touring variant will have no logos or to identifying features beyond the standard R symbols found on all Rolls Royce vehicles. This is good to remember as the Mulliner versions are much rarer and embody some of the final work from a distinguished firm.
