Buying a 1960 Jaguar XK150 Drophead Coupe

1960 Jaguar XK150 Drophead CoupeJaguar replaced the XK140 in 1958 with the XK150, a seemingly small difference, but in reality the start of technology that would propel Jaguar into the ranks of great automotive history. Jaguar knew the brakes on XK series cars were insufficient, often unable to slow that much metal. The XK150 presented itself with disc brakes, the first of any major production car, dramatically increasing stopping power. Engines began a journey of increasing their displacement; cumulating into a 265 hp 3.8L dual overhead-cam inline six in 1959, capable of catapulting the car from 0-60mph in 7.0 seconds, a time respected in todays sports cars (a 2013 Mazda MX-5 Miata GT goes the distance in 6.8). The 1960 Jaguar XK150 Drophead Coupe proved the companys expanding global popularity, as the DHC and increased horsepower changes were meant partially to expand further into the American market. The swooping lines and curving, aerodynamic shape were rare during this period, but Jaguar was determined to set itself ahead of the field. Driving the 1960 Jaguar XK150 Drophead Coupe is enjoyment in its purest form. To add enjoyment to enjoyment, Jaguar removed the roof and dubbed it the Drophead Coupe, allowing the outside elements into the cabin for awesome open-air motoring.
