Selling or Buying a Ferrari 275 GTS?

Ferrari 275 GTSAfter the disruption of the Series II Ferrari 250 GT Cabriolet production in 1962, the next Convertible Ferrari was launched in 1964, known as the 275 GTS S for Spyder. The design of the Ferrari 275 GTS was quite different from the Coupe model, and offered a new styling approach, with very elegant lines and distinctive bodywork. The Ferrari 275 were the first Ferraris on the road to be equipped with all-round independent suspension, unlike the rear live axle used on the 250 GT models. A rear-mounted five-speed transaxle was also introduced with the Ferrari 275. A 3.3-Liter SOHC V12 engine powered the stylish Spyder, generating a decent 260hp. Although this meant 20hp down compared to the Coupe, the better low-end torque made the GTS quite enjoyable to drive.

Ferrari 275 GTS Buyers Guide

Only 200 examples of the Ferrari 275 GTS were made during its 2-year production run. This amount wasnt low by Ferrari production standards but still makes the 275 GTS a very desirable classic. The Ferrari 275 GTS model was soon followed by the 330 GTC, the 330 GTS and the 330 GT 2+2 models. Ferrari also made a small production special version called the 275 GTS/4 NART Spyder. The main difference with the standard Ferrari 275 GTS is that the 275 GTS/4 NART Spyder came with the coachwork of the 275 GTB/4 Coupe and the four-cam motor. Being so rare, the NART Spyders are very desirable classics, highly prized at auction and Concours events.

This Enzo-era Ferrari is the very special classic that many Ferrari enthusiasts dream of owning. The 3-Weber carburetors and heart-wrenching V12 noise makes it personable and although its not modern-car speed, you get plenty enough without even needing the full 7,000 rpm. A precise and smooth 5-speed shifter is connected to the rear-mounted transaxle and the car offers fantastic steering. Most will tell you the Ferrari 275 GTS is definitely worth every penny!
