The Lamborghini Jarama was introduced in 1970 at the Geneva Motor Show to replace the Lamborghini Islero. With the increase of American safety and emissions rules, the Islero had to be replaced and the Jarama was released based on a shortened Lamborghini Espada chassis. Penned by Marcello Gandini at Bertone, the design of the 2+2 coupe was distinctive with a wide body, angular lines, and twin NACA ducts on the hood. The brand’s V12 unit that could propel the car up to 162 mph powered the Lamborghini Jarama. In 1973, improvements were made to the design and engineering, including a power increase, a wide hood scoop, redone wheels and air exhaust vents in the upper front-fender sides. In 1974, an automatic transmission was made available and the Jarama picked up other Espada modifications.
