Finished in its factory color Blu Pozzi, the exterior is paired with tan Daytona-style seats, giving the car a traditional and understated Ferrari color combination. As a front-engine grand tourer, the 575M Maranello blends long-distance comfort with the performance expected from a V12 Ferrari, offering a balanced driving experience rather than an all-out track focus.

Power comes from a 5.7-liter V12 engine paired with a paddle-shifted F1-style automatic transmission, delivering power to the rear wheels. The car is equipped with four-wheel disc brakes with Ferrari-branded calipers, Scuderia Ferrari fender shields, quad exhaust outlets, and 19-inch alloy wheels mounted with Pirelli P Zero tires. Additional exterior details include quad taillights and subtle aerodynamic shaping that reflects Ferrari’s early-2000s design language. Inside, amenities include air conditioning, power windows, power mirrors, and a center console designed with driver-focused controls.

With its V12 power, classic grand touring proportions, and connection to Ferrari’s early paddle-shift technology, the 575M Maranello represents a distinct era of analog-to-modern transition for the brand. Do not miss the opportunity to acquire this engaging Italian grand tourer that is mechanically sound.

The Ferrari 575M Maranello is a two-seat, two-door grand tourer manufactured by the Italian automobile manufacturer Ferrari. Launched in 2002, the year of our model, it is essentially an updated 550 Maranello featuring minor styling changes from Pininfarina.

The Ferrari 550 Maranello itself is a front-engine V12 2-seat grand tourer built by Ferrari from 1996 to 2002. The 550 Maranello marked Ferrari’s return to a front-engine, rear-wheel drive layout for its 2-seater 12-cylinder model, 23 years after the 365 GTB/4 Daytona had been replaced by the mid-engined Berlinetta Boxer.

Since 1973 Ferrari’s top-of-the-line 12-cylinder 2-seater model had used a mid-mounted 180° 12-cylinder flat engine. The Berlinetta Boxer had later been developed into the Testarossa, the final evolution of which was the 1994 F512 M. Under the presidency of Luca Cordero di Montezemolo, who took office in 1991, the F512 M replacement was developed as a traditional front-engined V12 grand tourer.

After 30 months of development, the Ferrari 550 Maranello was unveiled in July 1996 at the Nürburgring racing circuit in Germany. The model’s name referred to the 5.5-liters total engine displacement in centiliters and to the town of Maranello, home to the Ferrari headquarters and factory.

Pininfarina executed both the exterior and interior design.

Updates from the 550 for the 575M included a redesigned interior as well as a number of mechanical improvements, including bigger brake discs, a larger and more powerful engine, improved weight distribution, refined aerodynamics and fluid-dynamics along with an adaptive suspension set-up (the four independent suspensions are also controlled by the gearbox, to minimize pitch throughout the 200-milliseconds shift time).

Two six-speed transmissions were offered: a conventional gated manual and, for the first time on a Ferrari V12, an ‘F1’ automated manual gearbox built by Graziano Trasmissioni. Both used the same single-clutch transmission unit, but the F1 system’s electro-hydraulic actuation made it 50% quicker, completing gear changes in 200 milliseconds compared with 300 milliseconds for the manual. The F1 transmission was Ferrari’s first model to have ‘launch control.’ The F1 transmission added $10,000 to the price of a new car.

The 575 model number refers to total engine displacement in centiliters, whilst the ‘M’ is an abbreviation of modificata (Italian for ‘modified’).

The Pininfarina car designer for the original Ferrari 550 Maranello was Lorenzo Ramaciotti. Born in Modena in 1948, Ramaciotti started his career with Pininfarina in 1972. In 2007 he became Group Chief of Design at Fiat Group Automobiles, responsible for all the Fiat Group brands, including Alfa Romeo, Lancia and Maserati. In 2015 he was replaced by Ralph Gilles.

Lorenzo Ramaciotti graduated from the Polytechnic University of Turin with a degree in mechanical engineering in 1972, and joined Pininfarina after graduating. He was appointed General Manager of Pininfarina Studi e Ricerche in early 1988 and in 2002 became managing director and CEO of Pininfarina Ricerca and Sviluppo and retired in 2005.

In 2007, however, after being head-hunted by Fiat’s CEO Sergio Marchionne, he joined the Fiat Group as Group Chief of Design, overseeing the design of all the Group’s marques. In 2011 Lorenzo Ramaciotti was appointed a member of the Fiat Group Executive Council.

A total of 2,056 Ferrari 575M Maranello cars were produced, including 246 with manual transmissions.

The 575M was replaced by the Ferrari 599 GTB in the first half of 2006.
