The Bentley 3.5 Litre was presented to the public in 1933 and was the first model made after Bentley’s acquisition by Rolls Royce. The model was sold as a rolling chassis with the engine and gearbox, ready to be sent to the customer’s coachbuilder and receive a customized body and interior. The engine was developed from a Rolls-Royce straight-six unit and featured a high compression ratio, two SU carburetors and a sportier camshaft. Displacement was 3.7 liters, power output of 110 hp and top speed was recorded at 90 mph. Power was transmitted to the wheels via a four-speed manual transmission with synchromesh on 3rd and 4th gears. The suspension featured leaf springs on all four wheels and brakes were servo-assisted all around. In total, 1,177 units of the Bentley 3.5 Litre were made and Park Ward bodied half of the production.
