Buying or Selling a 1964 BMW 700

1964 BMW 700The 1964 BMW 700 line-up included the last new model type of the 700 introduced before it finally went out of production: the LS Coupe. Quite the opposite of the LS saloons economy and pared-down sensibility, the LS coupe had an extended wheelbase along with the engine from the 700 CS (formerly the Sport). Only 1,730 LS Coupes were assembled, making them quite rare compared to other model types of 700. Thus completing the collection of BMW 700 variations, the company was already well underway in their next, perhaps even more influential success. No longer were there fuel shortages or limited resources, and no longer was BMW in anything resembling dire financial straits. However, no one will ever doubt that the reason that we still have BMW around today is due to the smash success of the 700, and its easy to see why it sold so well. It was an affordable, handsome, and extraordinarily well-put together vehicle, in any of its myriad of model types.

1964 BMW 700 Buyers Guide

With the introduction of yet another 700 model, determining which it is that youre looking at becomes even more important. The LS coupe is among the rarest of the 1964 BMW 700 line-up, and so you should definitely look out for examples of that in good condition! Its even more rare than the convertible version. Some important things to consider when looking at any classic car: spare the money to hire a professional inspector, and/or an experienced mechanic whom you know and trust! Its better to spend a little to have them come out and take a look at it when the alternative could potentially be spending a lot to take care of a problem you didnt notice when you inspected the vehicle for yourself. Inspecting for yourself is something you should always do regardless, not only in order to check the cars condition, but also to get a feel for the car itself- you should never buy a car that doesnt speak to your spirit in a way you enjoy.
